Well I’m always on the look out for new things to try and I found one. I found a website that is not very big but does have some good cook books. I bought one to try out and it was great! The e-cook book was on cooking foods from places like olive garden, pf changs and the like. I was able to cook a great lunch for less money than going out and it really tasted like the olive garden. Well if I was cooking but it all turned out great and I’ll keep using the cook book. Whit prices so hight and money tight a little cooking at home and a few new cook books and I’m good to go. I think this is a bad deal. PROCTOR, Minn. a very small town of 3k busted a guy driving drunk in a tricked out motorized easy chair. So the police department put it up on e-bay to try and make a little money for the department. Nothing wrong with that right? E-bay made them pull the listing because it was not a la-z-boy brand as stated in their listing. The police had over 43k worth of bids before they were made to pull the ad. As of 3:44pm cst on 10/4/09 they only have a bid of 10,099.99. E-bay should be ashamed for making the Proctor police pull their original listing. The original action would have brought in a good amount of funds that the department could have put to good use for Community Policing and Crime Prevention.

Stephen F. Austin State Park

The park is located on the Brazos river about 30 minutes out side of Houston off of I-10 west. I took a camping trip there over the weekend to relax and recharge. I was very surprised about the amount of wildlife you could see just driving to your campsite. As I drove down the park road to my campsite a few deer crosses the road in front of me with out a care in the world. As I passed the deer they were just standing on the side of the road and looked liked they were posing to have their picture taken. I did not have my camera out so I stopped pulled it out and turned it on. I lost track of the deer and thought they would be gone but to my surprise when I turned in my seat to shoot they were still there. WoW what a treat. The park is small and very well-kept up and the bathrooms and showers were so clean it was like being at home. The nature trails are well-marked and layed out and not to hard to hike . All in all I had a very good time and this is my new favorite place for a short get away not to far from home.

Morning drink – 1) grapefruit (1) orange or (1) apple (1) grapefruit

Sunshine drink – 2) apples (4-6) strawberries

Energy drink – 1) handful of parsley (6) carrots

Sunday morning was cool and crisp as I packed the truck for my outing to the Austin, TX area. The Austin area is one of my favorite to take trips too. I was asked why one time by a friend of mine and well the reason for me is this, Austin has a wide range of places to go and things to do. Besides the weather is nice a crisp even in the hottest parts of summer due to the low humidity and Austin is the jumping off point for the Texas Hill Country. I decided my travels today would take my to Pedernales state park just outside of Austin on 290 just before 281. I read about the park from there web site and I could not pass up the photo op on the falls. Upon arriving at the park I took sometime to look at the park map to plain out what areas that I was going to hit. I decided to go to hit the falls first and than have some lunch at the picnic area with a little swimming after lunch. The falls were unlike any thing I’ve seen before. The large smooth rocks that made up the falls looked as if they were one solid peace of rock just worn down over time. And the water was cool blue and white as it crashed over the rocks and moved down the river. After seeing the falls I said to heck with lunch and went straight to the swimming area which was down stream from the falls. The swimming area was a nick trek down the hill side and the water was cool blue and clear like at the falls. The water was very refreshing after the hike to the falls and down to the swimming area. I floated in the deep cool waters of the river enjoying nature and all it had to offer. You don’t get this down at the local pool.

The Salt Lick BBQ

The Salt Lick BBQ is just out of Austin on the way to a little town called Driftwood. I read a few reviews about this family owned and operated restaurant and they were all great. When it comes to reviews and restaurants especially bar-be-que places I tend to put them in the I’ll be the judge category. So off to the Salt Lick I go hi ho hi ho or something of the sort. But before I started to make plains I took some time to check out their web site and I’m glad I did. Why you may ask while I was looking for directions I found out they take Cash Only. The trip to the salt lick was a very pleasant one and what a nice Saturday it was. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was a nice size BBQ house with a huge parking lot full of cars. After finding a place to park the smell of bar-be-que was making my mouth water and as I passed people walking out as I was walking in their faces were of happiness. When I walked into the salt lick the first thing that you can’t help but see is the huge pit behind the counter for all to see not hidden in the back behind closed doors like it was something to be ashamed of. The sitting is just picnic tables and they have high chairs for the little BBQ eaters and the decor is just plain and simple. Well I ordered a basic 3 meat plate with sauce on the side so I could get a true taste of the meat. And boy did I ever the bar-be-que was tinder but firm and the taste was out of this world and the sauce was a complement to the meat. The reviews were right THE Salt Lick was well worth the tripe. The next time your up that way stop in and give it a try you will be glad you did.
